François-Joseph Pommet has set up since
1996 as a successor of Patrick Kreit in boulevard Saint Marceaux in
Reims.
As a former pupil of the National Conservatoire of Reims region, he
attended adjusted lessons in viola before getting into the Mirecourt
School of stringed instruments.
He started his 12-years training at Patrick Kreit's and then in Lyon at
the famous stringed instrument restorer Jean Frederic Schmitt with whom
he worked for 7 years. There, as an assistant and foreman, he was lucky
enough to work on the most beautiful specimens of the French and
Italian stringed instrument technique. He also inquired there the skill
of bow making.
In 1991, he opened a workshop in Toulouse before coming back to his
origins in Reims.
He has a passion for both restoring and makinq instruments. Now he aims
at devoting himself to the music and musicians..
